First written records are from the year 1360 when Mazuranices were recorded as patricians of Split (Spalato).

There are few different unproved beliefs about pre Dalmatian origin of the Mazuranic family. One is that the family came to Dalmatia from the eastern lands (Vladimir-Fran Mazuranic, “Mladost-Radost”, 1950, Zagreb, p.30,31) . The second is that the family is of Greek origin and related to the Greek family Mazuranis. The third is that the family is a breach of the Sicilian family Maiorana of Monte S. Guiliana and of Calabria.

Through the marriages the family Mazuranic has established relations with following  noble families: Sokolic, Mrzljak, Knezevic (Badrljica), Pehrsson (von Essen), Cabalin, Brlic, von Haselburg, Nikolic (von Habsburg), von Türk, von Gagern, von Blazekovic, Spun-Strizic, Vraniczany-Dobrinovic, Reiszner,... as well as with families: Ivic, Maricic, Coric, Dorcic, Cvetko, Radetic, Kriskovic, Dobric, Zoricic, Subert, Piskulic, Pericic, Maljak, Toljan, Petrinovic, Kargacin, Segulja, Kezele, Butorac, Sikic, Santl, Demeter, Nyari, Bernath, Ruzic, Draxler, Morsy, Saban, Ruzio-Saban, Jezek, Versfeld, Corak, Denkovic, Milosevic, Nestorov, Evstriatiadi, Mikhailoff, Birac, Cuckovic, Radisavljevic, Potocnjak, Kostanjevic, Willisits, Gayer, Heinz Kislinger, Milcic, Skiljan, Horjan, Dolusic, Stivicic, Basic, Markovic, Cosic, Bencevic, Mohacek, Kemp, Kosuta, Lovric, Umljenovic...
